Bookish Wanderess: Ten Fairytales Retellings

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme held over at Broke and Bookish. This week’s topic is: Ten Fairytale Retellings I've Read/Want To Read (fairytales I want to be retold or fairytales I love). I haven’t read that many fairytale retellings, so here’s what I could come up with.

I love this series so much, I have read all the books that are out so far and I can’t wait for Winter to come out. These retellings of some of the classic fairytales like Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White, have an amazing writing style, interesting characters, the world is really unique and complex, and I can’t get enough of them!

This is one of my favorite books I have read so far in 2015, the mix between the Beauty and the Beast retelling and other folktales elements make this a very fascinating story. As always I love Sarah j. Maas’s writing, her characters are incredible, and the world is captivating. I can’t wait to know more about the characters, especially, Lucian and Rhys.

This book is not that well known, but I really enjoyed it. It’s kind of a Princess and the Pea retelling, and it has really great characters and a lot of romance, which I love, and it made this book such a pleasure to read.

This book was so hyped that I couldn't resist and I started to read it a while back, I stop reading half way through and I still need to finish it. I don’t know how I feel about it yet, I know I have some issues with it, but it’s not completely bad. I will try to finish it sometime soon.

I have never read a Holly Black book, I did read the story she wrote for My True Love Gave to Me and I didn’t like it that much, but I’m still intrigued and I want to read something by her. This book sounds really dark and interesting, and I think it would be a perfect book to try and fall in love with Holly Black’s writing and stories.

I have seen this cover for so long, and even if it intrigued me, I didn’t even know what this story was about until I had to write this post and I looked it up. It’s kind of an Alice’s adventures in Wonderland retelling/continuation, and it sounds like it has the same crazy style that the original story.

This book has an interesting concept, it’s a Peter Pan retelling, but from Tiger Lily’s point of view. It sounds like an interesting twist to the story. We get to see more of Nederland, is it great?!

I have never read a Neil Gaiman’s book, but I have heard great things about his writing. This book is a mix between a Snow White and a Sleeping Beauty retelling, and there’s dark magic in it. What more can I say? It sounds brilliant and it’s really short, so I think it would be a quick entertaining read.

10) The Fairy-Tale Detectives by Michael Buckley

This book has a really interesting concept, because fairytales are case files of magical mischief and the Brothers Grimm were detectives and now their descendants have to be fairytale detectives as well. It’s just a really unique and cool idea. Can’t wait to read this one!
